In the news: Michael Richards accuses Bush of hating blacks, Donald Trump accuses Bush of making too much $, OJ Simpson accuses Bush of having blood on his hands, and Jimmy Carter accuses Bush of being the worst president in history.
“I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history,” Carter said. “The overt reversal of America’s basic values as expressed by previous administrations . . . has been the most disturbing to me.”
Carter said that Bush’s policy of preemptive war, “where we go to war with another nation militarily, even though our own security is not directly threatened,” was “a radical departure from all previous administration policies.”
Right. Except for the policies of Clinton (Yugoslavia), Bush41 (Iraq), Johnson (Vietnam), Truman (Korea), and well, nearly all wartime presidents we’ve ever had. It’s understandable how the current president can become the worst in one’s mind when one’s memory doesn’t extend to anything before it. In that case Carter ought to be consistent. Ever since we got a new president, Bush43 is the worst and the best president we’ve ever had!
Someone ought to pin another Nobel Peace Prize on Jimmy for his courage in speaking out against the leader of his own nation when no one else will. Nope, Jimmy, you definitely do NOT make my list of warmongering US presidents.
