Female-only conception may be around the corner

Hey, neato. Researchers are looking into the possibility of creating sperm cells from female bone tissue, as has already been demonstrated with male bone tissue. Says the article:

Women might soon be able to produce sperm in a development that could allow lesbian couples to have their own biological daughters, according to a pioneering study published today.

They see no ethical quandary in doing so, and I can’t say I do either. A woman creating new life without the involvement of any man. Well why not?

Creating sperm from women would mean they would only be able to produce daughters because the Y chromosome of male sperm would still be needed to produce sons. The latest research brings the prospect of female-only conception a step closer.

So women creating only women. Isn’t that the ultra-feminist’s dream? It would mean that should all we bloodthirsty warmongering males kill ourselves off, the human race might still be able to persist. And what a peaceful race that would be.

C’mon, play along with me. There is no way in Haliburton that we will ever realize world peace with the Y chromosome in its present-day preponderance. Reduce or eliminate this troublesome genetic nuisance and you have instant Utopia. Consider this:

Alexander the Great had one.
Genghis Khan had (at least) one.
Adolf Hitler had one.
George W Bush has a few.
Chuck Norris’ body is made up of nothing but Y chromosomes.
Darth Vader *probably* had one (we are never told exactly what half of him was machine).
And as an added bonus, Tom Cruise has one too.

Purge the Y chromosome and we rid ourselves entirely of the undesirable half of the human race with the probable exception of Michael Jackson. QED

  1. I have often wondered if the male gender is just an evolutionary *birth defect* in the human species.

  2. There are male members in (almost) every species on earth (discounting genderless species, etc), so it couldn’t be a human birth defect.

Also, not that I pretend to understand women at all, but the majority of women I’ve mentioned this revelation to admit they wouldn’t want to live without guys anyway (much as i wouldn’t want to live without women).

And anyway, who will change the oil? (jk)

  3. don’t forget the likes of Rosie O’Donell, she would finally be gone too…
